Love Necrotizing Encephelitis

We are brand new to this site. Our little 2-1/2 year old Jewel has been prognosed with Necrotizing Encephalitis or GME like Sushi. With out a biopsy of the brain, there is no way to determine what exactly she has. We had an MRI & Spinal Tap done in June and at the time her neurologist told us to expect her to pass away in a few weeks. Well she showed them! It's now 2006 and she is still with us. But it has definitely been a rollercoaster ride with really good days followed by really bad ones. We have been searching endlessly for answers and help and we are still learning about this terrible disease. We recently met with an Alternative Medicine Veterinarian and are working on getting her off the prednisone. As we saw in previous posts, we can clearly see many of you are very compassionate and some have gone more than an extra mile to help each other learn more about it.

NE & GME are very rare. Not much is known about the cause and there is no cure. All we can ask for is support and finding ways to keep these Beautiful Little Angels as comfortable as we possibly can.

Thanks for caring,

Dan & Cori
