Hate to tell you but this is a rumor on the Swifter. There are a couple of really good websites that you can use to look up rumors. I use truth or fiction but there are others.

I never had a problem with this product but I certainly have had with PineSol and bleach and water. So the only thing I use now is Ivory Soap for the weekly wash and Swifter for the quick ones.
