Don't worry!
I work four 6-hours days a week. I got my 8-week old Yorkie and also was able to spend the first week or so at home with him.
Now, that I'm back working, he is confined to the kitchen area with his bed, toys, food, and everything else he needs while I'm gone.
I listen and don't hear him whinning when I leave - and he's happy to see me when I get home. So - he doesn't seem to mind being left home alone very much. He does have another dog and a bird in the house (but not in the area that he is confined in)...and I leave a light and the radio on for him.
--- As far as potty training - he uses his puppy pad fairly well when he's left in the kitchen. But, unfortunately, it's when I'm home and he's running loose that he isn't so good. But, he's a boy and wears a belly band when he's running around the house - so we don't have much carpet-damage, etc., being done. He is good about going to the bathroom when I take him outside -- and I should take him out more than I do.
Also - with his belly band, I know exactly how often he pees - and sometimes it is almost every 15 minutes for an hour or two, and then he'll go several hours and not pee at all. I am sure as he grows, he will be better able to hold it and will be peeing less often.
Good luck!
