I work 8 hours a day. Luckily I live about 10 minutes away from work, so during my lunch hour I go home to check on Yoshi. What I did is got a 10 dollar baby gate at walmart, then I put that up in the bathroom after clearing out everything in there he can't have (remember the toilet paper. that is always a fun one to find shredded). That way he doesn't have to sit in a crate all day. Also, for the first couple months I put puppy pads down in one corner on the opposite his bed and sprayed a training spray that I got at petsmart (he wouldn't go on the pads before I tried this). He very often missed the pad by a few inches, so expect lots of accidents. Also, mine eventually started shredding the pads for fun. Fun for him. These days he recently taught himself (I didn't do it, I dont think) to hold it while he's in the bathroom, which is AWESOME. This is at 4 months and I believe that is on the earlier side. Yoshi is also not even close to being trained in the rest of the house. I wouldn't let him have free roam, at least without you shadowing him literally almost on top of him all the time. That first month w/out work should be very good for you in starting him off. Hope this helps, good luck.

almost forgot, start crate training right away. its a great way to teach them to hold their bladders for an hour or 2. and then you take him outside and have him go. good luck |
