He also said he is going into the peace corps in about a month and the dog would be going to his brothers place. The cop told him I had offered to take the little one if they couldn't/ wouldn't look after him, he declined. The cop said to the guy, it is fine to have the dog out for a while, but not all day and make sure he at least has water, the guy said Ok uh huh I will.

I think they saw me over there feeding the dog and decided maybe they better bring him inside, when I went over to feed him the lights were all out in the house so they had gone to bed and were just going to leave him out all night. The good news is the cops said, yes he is skinny, but I saw dog food in the house and the dog was laying in a bed in a kennel in the house.....so I guess that is good.....
Hopefully they will do better by this poor little guy knowing somebody is watching and the police have been out. And I have watched Animal Copes/Precinct on tv as have you and see those shows where a dog is absolutely starving and there will be 2 bags of dog food leaning against the kitchen wall and they look full! I will never understand people that mistreat dogs!

Ugh! Going into peace corps and cannot even treat a little dog with compassion, leaving him out all day without water or food. Shameful! I certainly hope the brother has some compassion and love for dogs and will give him a real and loving/caring home. Love is not enough - an owner has to care for a dog, too.

I applaud you more than I can put into words for doing all that you did and watering/feeding this poor baby, calling police and being his angel. Hopefully they will do right by this little thing until the move and we can only hope and pray a better future is in store for this little JRT!
