The sad thing is that he still probably won't be cared for very well. I mean just because they took him inside doesn't mean they'll feed, water, worm and care for him... If he was a bag of bones, he should have been removed from the property.

You did a good thing by calling authorities. I wonder if you would contact animal welfare if they would go check on him? Possibly remove him from the home.
