Is your vet planning on doing weekly xrays? I would be very concerned about a bent pin.
It is very important that xrays be done to be sure that the bone is mending. I am telling you this because I had a foster who came to me 6 months after fracturing his leg. (the femur in his hind leg). The vet only put a pin in and it did not mend. He ended up needing bone grafting and a plate and screws. The ortho surgeon told me that an IM pin rarely works on a long bone in the leg. I don't know if that is what your pup has....just letting you know of something I experienced.
Again, I would recommend a second opinion from a board certified surgeon if that is not who you used.
