Marley is almost 10# (up from the 8# boy we adopted a year and a half ago. Maxie is over 6# now (up from the 4.6# baby I adopted on Valentine weekend 2010. Neither boy is "fat", although I'm very conscious of the effect that aging has on accumulated body fat. It has made me really suspect of the breed standard of 4 - 7#. If the baby is healthy, happy, and food motivated, and from a show home; he/she will likely will grow to a more natural weight that exceeds the breed standard. Is it time for the Breed Standard to change? |
