To keep a yorkie in long coat, you will need to groom daily and best to bathe every 4-5 days. You will always have tangles, there are products to make combing out tangles easier, but nothing will really prevent tangles. It's best to brush/comb out a coat using a detangling spray, never brush out a dry coat. To help prevent some tangles and better protect the hair, you can either wrap or band the coat.
I use Iv San Bernard products (specifically use PEK conditioner), which are available in Canada, through their website. I like Chris Christensen brushes, the metal and wood pin brushes, also love our boar bristle brush, my favorite combs are a metal teflon coated (.....the only place I know that has the comb.....
Dog Bows: Yorkie Bows, Maltese and Shih Tzu Show Dog Bows & Show Leads) and a Christensen butter comb.
This is my Reno with long coat. He has a nice coat for a pet, but with wrapping/oiling, etc. could have a much prettier coat.
