Well as of right now we have decided not to let Katie Scarlett sleep in the bed with us, but I can't promise this will change. LOL. My husband is not crazy about the idea of her sleeping with us and we too have a really high 4 poster bed. I'm afraid of her falling or trying to jump off of it. If we ever do decide she can sleep in there with us, we'll definitely have to invest in doggy stairs. But we are going to put her bed right next to ours on a table so she sort of feels like she is right up there with us...well why she is still using her crate at night. Once she gets a big girl bed, we'll see where she wants to be.
