What a great idea to do research! I am very interested to see what people have to say. We haven't got our baby yet so I don't know how much insight I can add. She will be here very soon and we ordered our system online. I know you said no brand names but I can tell you about it. It's like a little apartment thing. It is a wire crate and has a divider that is in the center of it. The divider has a special hole cut out in it for the size of dog you have. For example, we purchased a small size. On one side is her bed (and this size is very small....just enough room for her to sit, stand, turn around, and lie back down....and then the other side is bigger and that is where the potty pad goes. Now we have a girl, but on the instructional video we received with our product, it shows how that if you have a boy who hikes his leg you can get special oversized pads that kind of go up the sides of the crate to help him when he hikes his leg OR you could take up 2 pads to 2 sides of the crate to get any in the case of hiking legs. We hope this system will work out well for us, but I will try to let you know our experience. I wonder if our's will be a walker when she goes too because if she does, that might be a problem if the door to the crate is open.
