If I teach him too, he would pee on the target. My issue is, everyone in the house use to push his potty next to the wall. That encouraged him to lift his leg even more because the wall gave him a target. Instead of getting mad at my mom, and brothers for not listening, I went with the current system. Our one bathroom is small, but big enough to give Kaji a potty place when it's up against the wall. I've actually damaged the paint from the tape. My dad, who is the maintenance guy of the apt building, said it was ok. I don't feel so bad about it.
As far as how high, would a picture of the current set up help? Kaji's short, and tries to aim high, but he really can only go so high.
