This all sounds so painfully familiar! This time last year Bunkey (9yrs,poodle,5lbs) started having tummy problems. Between Oct and the end of Nov we did antibiotics 2 times, ran all kinds of tests,,no worms and then he seemed to be fine. Then in mid Feb he got sick again. On March 8 he woke me up having a seizure (lasted 2min,at 6am),I stayed up and was at the vets door at 8am. The vet drew blood for more blood work gave me specific feeding instructions and we went home (he had not lost weight nor was he dehydrated),he never quite recovered from that seizure and we were going to make an apt with a specialist for as soon as they could get us in. At 11pm Bunkey began seizing again (all of my other dogs would of usually run to his aid,but they all got up on the furniture and just sat,,they knew how bad it was). By the time we got Bunkey to the ER he had been seizing for 40min and had a stroke. He was given Valium. I was called at 2am and told that he was paralized,I told them that they were to keep him from seizing again and I would get him at 7am,they had him ready when I arrived. On March 9,2011 @ 9am,My lil friend passed away and I am still crying. None of the other 5 dogs have exibited any problems until two weeks ago,we own Bunkey's twin brother.
I am so very sorry for your loss,I know that you are devistated. I hope that at some point you will be able to hang on to the good memories.
