Glad he has meds. The sex toy would just encourage the habit, and probably would result in the same infection. Try increasing the exercise again, and when you catch him humping, tell him "no" and try to redirect his attention to something else. Give the corrections in an even voice, not an angry one. Hope this doesn't happen to Simon again, poor boy.
