No I do not think that Yorkies are hard to train. Not at all, you just need to stay outside with him a little longer.... rain, sleet or snow ! It isn't easy. But it is necessary.
I took a beach umbrella and put it up outside so that every time I took mine out I was not having to stand in the rain. They didn't like it not one bit... but you sort of have to force them to get out there and do it. I just repeat " GO Potty" over and over until eventually they did. I also took a flashlight when it was dark out and kept it shined on them at all times so that there was no question if they went or not.
Sometimes they did not go the first time out so I would put them right into their cage and try again in a few minutes. Not any longer or tehy will finish in the cage. They usually would go the second time out.
