Welcome to YT. I am sorry your little guy is in the hospital and I hope he can come home to you soon.

I would follow the recommendation of the vet for food. Discuss with your vet your desire to have him on a diet without the ingredients you mentioned.

After one episode of pancreatitis, you do need to be even more cautious with things that can be controlled, like diet. Recurring episodes are often stronger and take a harder toll on the body.

When it comes to feeding, dogs don't need more than their basic diet. They don't need fancy treats. If you want something to use as reward, use a piece of kibble. LadyJane bakes treats made out her dog's food. You could also try a tiny bit of safe fruits or veggies. There are some that may trigger pancreatic attacks in some dogs, like potatoes, so you will have to be cautious there too.
