There is a bacteria in her lung that is resistant to all but two antibiotics which they really do not want to give to her because of the risk of renal toxicity. They are hoping that, as she is getting healthier, perhaps her body will be able to fight it off. The fact that her lungs have improved since day one is encouraging. They will be doing chest xrays tomorrow. She thinks that either tomorrow or the next day they will be closing up the one side of her neck! So, progress is being made for sure!
Hopefully her immune system will kick in from all of the great care she has been getting and she won't need to take the questionable antibiotics. It is so wonderful to hear how well she is doing in such a relatively short amount of time. Thank god she got to you when she did.
