Thanks for all the good ideas - I was thinking bleach or vinegar but didn't want to do something that would make it worse. We've got a plastic tray under them to help the puppy figure out where the edge is (although she still manages to 'hang over' sometimes!. The carpet is fine - and when she misses the edge I'm quick with the Miracle Worker, which works really well. The problem is it's a really small room so I can't put the pee pad very far away from where I'm working. She's pretty close to being able to have more freedom, but not quite. After that, her 'normal' place will be in the kitchen, not my office.

I've been thinking about making my own detergent too - glad to hear it works so well.
