I use warm water detergent and I add 1/4 cup of baking soda to the wash and that takes care of the smell, also if you live in a warm climate put them to dry in a line, I do that all summer long, sadly in the winter I have to use my dryer. my mom uses a cap full of white vinegar in the wash when she washes her puppy pads, and they are smell free also.
