First, let me start by saying that I spent some time looking for a rescue before I got my second dog. I communicated with a few different ones by email. None of them would even consider adopting out a rescue that has not been spayed. Everyone of them said she would be spayed prior to adoption. It was always part of the agreement. Of course, both of my girls are spayed so that was never an issue with me. Spend some time on the rescue sites. Read the stories where so many of these babies came from. If you can do it without crying then that would be amazing. However, I can't. I would read through them as tears ran down my face. If you read them you will understand why you must have the pet fixed. Also go to some of the post where Ladyjane has taken in pups. Again, good luck getting through them without crying. The rescues have had difficult situations to overcome. Many of them need medical care. That is why they cost what they do. And honestly, some of the cost is not even in the same ball park as what was paid out.

Second, I really see no connection to a dog having a litter of pups as compared to a woman giving birth. I am not even sure why there is a need to make such a comparison. I will leave it at that.

As far as you stating that you found when a dog had at least one litter they lived longer. That is just the opposite of what so many vets say. Maybe you should spend some time researching this and discussing it with your vet. My vet also mentioned to me many health issues from having a female that is not spayed.

Finally, as far as having the one litter of pups. She is your pup and that is your right. Many of us on here have seen pups that have been abused, dumped off, rehomed, etc. That is the number one reason we voice our concerns. Yes, you may be a responsible pet owner but not everyone else is. I hate to say it but even family members can do the wrong thing. I believe you could even find posts about that on here. I think what so many of the members are trying to do is educate you to the fact that in the long run things can end up happening that you don't expect. Keep those things in mind before you make your decision.
