I guess it all depends on the brand. For my boy chi I got a 3-6mon Faded Glory at Walmart ($2.00) and the length is perfect. Its a little too wide.

For bella I bought some at a consignment shop. One of the newborn sizes was a perfect fit for my chi (but it was pink....and I wont let my boy wear pink. lol)

So Id say go to a consignment shop, or walmart (the day after I bought mine they went on clearance for $1.00) and try a few sizes. Or just measure.
