I have a similar set up. I have an upholstered queen anne bench at the foot of my bed. ZoE jumps on that and then onto the bed and reverses the process to get down.
I initially had stairs made, but they were so big to accomodate the rise/run of each step in order to reach the height of my bed. They just didn't look good in the room and took up too much space. The bench is the perfect solution for us.
