I agree get some stairs. I know they "sometimes" have them at CVS for like 10$.
I have stairs on my bed for Pnut, he doesn't use them he will just jump up and down for me to pick him up.. As well as when he wants down. I'm always right there when he is on my bed. All it takes is one time for them to jump wrong and break something.
