I think it depends.
The mobile grooming company I worked at had a card the customer would fill out and mark if they need their anal glands expressed. If it didnt say that, we didnt do it. So it wasnt an automatic thing.
I would try to remember to ask, possibly even call beforehand so you dont forget.
