I agree with Ladyjane. It is intended to take the nervous edge off, but not knock them out completely. By that, I mean they may be more relaxed so they will settle down and rest easier, ride without nervousness, but should still respond when stimulated, when their name is called or when they hear something, when your vehicle stops, etc. If it were my dog, I would not double up on the 1/8 tablet. But that's me.
