Not everyone agrees with crate training. It's easy to say, "walk your dog down to the grass and have it do it's business there." or to crate them until they need to go, but if you live on the 20th floor of an apt building, you'll never make it in time. Everyone's situation is different. If crate training worked for you, that's awesome. Taking my little one out when he needs to go requires we get in the car, and an extra 10 mins of him holding it. I'd rather him be able to relieve himself when he needs to.
