When my SIL had her baby the dogs, Grace (min pincher) and Leo (boxer) slept in the room in their crates! The baby slept in the bassanet next to my SIL. Everything worked out well!
When my other SIL had her baby her two pit bulls slept on the floor on their beds, or on the bed with my SIL, everything again worked out fine!!
I think you need to think what is going to be comfy for you, and your furbutts! I agree with including the furbutts with the newborn.. they are family too!! And besides that's how pets learn to love the baby and protect them, is by being with them and getting use to the sounds and movements!!
