Carrying a gun is (of course!) a personal choice. It may not be your thing,but if you want to walk where it may not be quite safe it may save your life! Pepper spray and heavy boots are a great deterrent for the normal thief, mugger, etc. But the OP is talking about someone who has killed being on the loose. I'm sorry, keys to the face probably won't work against someone like that. Realistically, she should probably stay home until this guy is caught.
I personally would invest in some potty pads! Stay home and ride the exercise bike!
