If you are financially able and have the time, then there isn't much of a reason not to. But you have only had Gizmo for a few months, so are you sure you're ready? Double the vet care, double the behavioral problems (if any), etc.
I got another dog after 10 years. Love him to pieces. Having two exhausts me. I could just make Ellie snuggle me. With Rylee, he has to have playful attention often. I find it hard to walk two, esp. bc they bark and try to go after people and dogs.
Wasn't even looking for another dog. Pretty much knew I would not get another for several years. Wrong I was. He just showed up online and what I had wanted. He was the only one we would have considered and it just worked out. Can't afford it, but oh well.
Got him from Serenity, btw. We were very happy with their adoption dept. I think the work that rescues do is amazing; however, I'm not one that can sit on a list for weeks, have home checks, long phone convos about how the dog will be raised, etc. That can all be very necessary, but it's not something that I personally wanted to deal with right now. Anyway, the process there was very good, but very short. Very little opportunity for prospective owners to et sad over not getting a dog bc everything moves quickly. They pull their rescues from kill shelters, so you are saving a life it getting a dog there. They can sometimes get a dog of a certain breed for you upon request. If you would like to know anything else, just PM.
I'd say go for it if you think you are ready. But Gizmo is still young and there is lots of time for things to come up making a second less appealing. Try not to rush into it (coming from somebody that saw the ad for Rylee online and had him less than 3 days later - all while not thinking another dog was going to fit right now. lol).
