I also called my own vet this morning and made a follow up appointment for later in the week, they will see how is progress is and re-stain the eye to check the healing- I also want to discuss the ER vet situation with them and see what they say because this is the ER vet they recommend (of course it is the only one within a 2 hour radius so they don't have much choice I suppose.)
Thanks again for all the well wishes- Armani & I appreciate them.
Okay- now I need some opinions. Last night I was petting him a lot, normally he is so crazy I don't get a chance- and I found a scab on him, I cleaned it off and I can see that it was a small, straight cut that has been healing. It was not fresh enough to have happened at the vet and was not a bite or scratch wound that Chloe could have inflicted. Wednesday the two of them went to the groomer- so I am thinking the groomer cut him. She always tells me how great they are and how well behaved they are. This week she said, "Sorry it took so long, but Armani was really knotted and because I had to brush him so much he was really badly behaved". I found it slightly odd that he has been to her so many times and now all of a sudden was bad, but didn't think much of it. Now I understand small cuts happen and everything and maybe since it was under so much hair and pretty small she didn't even notice. But it has me thinking... could she have poked him in the eye with something? a brush, comb, scissor, whatever? and caused this eye issue? Anyone know how long from the initial damage to the eye until it becomes a visible ulcer like this? It is something I am going to discuss with my vet- but just wondered if anyone knew. So now what do I do? I obviously have no evidence she did this- but the timing is kind of fishy? right? or am I looking for someone to blame? be honest. What would you do? |
Yeah it sounds fishy to me too. His wound is so much worse than Joey’s. The vet thought Joey got his from rubbing his face on carpet, just a tufted loop of carpet can cause a scratch, but Joey's only symptom was not eating and a slight squint. The not eating is why I knew it was serious. Does she cut any part of Armani's face? Some groomers cut that little inverted V between the nose, and that would make it very easy to cut the eye. You're always supposed to hold the scissors away from the eye, and hold the chin hair, so the dog can't move, but an accident can easily happen if you don't follow the rules. Not much you can do, but I would definitely ask her about it, at least you would be informing her of the seriousness of this. If she did it, she could have saved Armani a lot of pain if you had taken him to the vet as soon as it happened.
