How about it? Finally a step by step How To! This method works great for those of us who don't know how to use, or don't own, a sewing machine. It's a little tedious, but the results are always fabulous! It helps if you already have a favorite tee for your pup.
Step 1
Gather your materials. Which means, buy onesies! Other than onesies, you'll need, your favorite tee for your pup, scissors, a ruler, a pen or marker (non bleeding preferable), needle and thread in a coordinating color.
The size onesie will depend on the fit you want to have. I like form fitting tees, and jammies to show off Kaji's muscles.
We use either premie onesies if we can find them, or we settle for newborn sizes. For reference, Kaji weighs approximately 7 lbs. He is 12.5 inches from base of neck to base of tail. Neck size 7.75 inches. Chest 12.25 inches. For this step by step, I am using newborn sized onesies.
Step 2
Laying the onesie out flat with the image on top, you are looking at what will be the back of your pups new jammies.

Compare it to your pup's favorite tee.

Usually, for long tee onesie jammies, all you have to do is cut right above where the snaps go. Using a ruler, mark with a dotted line where you'll be making your cut.

Following the line, cut the snaps off and bottom legs off and you'll have something that looks like this.

If this length is close to what you'd like, and you have a girl dog, CONGRATULATIONS! You're almost done. (Boy dog owners, continue to step 3) Roll up, or fold up the hem, and sew. If you have no practice sewing, here's a good video that can show you how. (please forgive the narrator's monotone voice. I choose this video because it offers more than one way to sew a hemline.)
