I agree with the harness, I most often use a harness (depends if I'm walking alone ,or with another dog etc.), in our evening 10-15 min. walks I most often just hook the leash to the collar if I have little time he doesnt pull if I'm walking him alone, but if I'm walking my neighbours dog at the same time he pulls alot so then I use a harness.
If I'm walking him with just a collar I have a harness in my pocket if he starts pulling I change it , or I put it on outside if I have to be quick.
I'm trying to use the harness more often I'm just so used to always using collars !
Its way better for the neck to use a harness I know but the one I got pulls the neck too so it does not change much but though it evens the pressure out half of it goes to the back and half to the neck I think, better than having all the pressure on the neck.
I have a rogz harness.
