We had been looking for a yorkie for about a year and 1/2 and was visiting our son in Illinois and I got a local newspaper and came across a couple of ads for yorkies. I called one and even tho it took us a couple of hours out of our way we stopped to look at him. The lady was going blind and couldn't take care of him any longer (so she said). He was advertised at 3 lbs. but was 4. He was dirty and badly matted .The second I looked at him I knew he was mine. I consider him to be a rescue even tho that was not the case. Buying him was the best thing I have
ever done. He is my baby.
Our other one we bought from a newspaper ad also in Columbus, Ohio. She was only 8 weeks when we got her. Being a puppy she has been a challenge but I also don't know what we would do with out her.
We called one number in Toledo, Ohio and drove 1 1/2 hrs to see this old man who claimed to show his dogs at one time have who we guestimate to be about 25 or more yorkies in a small house trailer. I so wanted to buy them just to get them out of there. I realized if I paid for just one of those dogs it would only encourage his setup all the more.
sorry this is so long . I guess what I am trying to say is check papers and check the situations out and don't be in any hurry to buy. And most of all, I beg you, don't be one of those breeders who only wants money. If we have any born to us I am not sure I can sell any of them. I get too attached. LOL
and by the way...........our 2 babies are named "Buckeye" and Ahia Swate"
