this is the email i sent which i think scared her straight .
ok first things first .
Fendi should no longer be on regular dog food . you should have switched her back over to puppy food (Hills Science Diet is good)about two weeks ago. this would have helped her get all the nutrients she needs . as puppy food has way more nutrients than regular dog food. she should be on puppy food til 10 days before her first due date. at that time it is advised that she is put back on her regular food .
-along with this you should have bought a multi vitamin for her at a pet store ( this is sometimes called a pet tab) . this would help her make sure she does not become ill and has everything in her she needs. (kinda of like when a real person is preggo)
_secondly , it is advised to give half a egg once a day for more nutrition. this would be best done at her lunch time . she will be eat smaller meals more often in the day . along with this you should buy cottage cheese and scramble an eggs and combine the two and keep this refrigerated . ONE spoon of this should be added to each of her meals.
you also need to take her to a real vet to be examined. i called 4 vet offices to ask if it would be safe to have her fly they alllllll said the same thing IT IS VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE PUPPIES . DOGS SHOULD NOT FLY IS THEY ARE PREGNANT MORE SO IF THEY ARE SO FAR INTO THEIR PREGNANCY . fendi is already half way in . the day you return she will be exactly 60 days. that means she only has about 2 - 3days left. she can go into early welp from the stress . this would come along with huge possibilities and risk that you can lose both fendi and her pups .
you should also take her to the vet to see how many pups she is going to have .( on the internet it says that when breeding a dog be prepared to spend at the least 500 dollars on vet visits) if that is a problem it is said she should have not have been breed in the first place.
OK SO NOW IM GOING TO TELL YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HER GESTATION PERIOD AND HER BIRTH PROCESS.
gestation period of a DOG is 63 days. The first day you
breed her, you mark it on your calendar and count 63 days
from then, and that's the first due date of your puppies.
Sperm lives for approximately 48 hours. so in this case if fendi was breed on the 25th of june her due dates would be the 25th the 26th or the 27th of august. ( this does not mean she will give birth on exactly those days . she may take a little longer. if she goes a week after the first date you should def take her to the vet to get checked out ) of corse if she could take longer to give birth there is a possibility they can come earlier than planed . it has been said they can come as early of the 56th day of her pregnancy .
- 10 days before her first due date you are supposed to start taking her temperature . once a day til it starts to drop . 101 is a normal temperature for a dog. once it starts to drop you should check it twice a day til it is 99 . this is when you know she is close to labor. at this time she needs to be with you or who ever is taking the responsibility to help deliver the pups 24/7.
you are going to have to get a birthing box for her birth. a birthing box can big a low huge plastic container you get at target or something . or a little kiddie pool. some people use large cages but this would make it hard for you to help her when she needs help. this box should ar last be 2 to 3 feet big this is where she will welp( give birth) and take care of her pups. along with the box you are going to need a heating pad for the pups and lots and lots and lots of towels and cushion for the box . ( i can teach you how the box should be set up ) the heating pad should be in one section of the box for the pups it can not be toooo hot or too cool . a towel should be places under and on top of it .
now this is what your gonna need in your welping kit ( birth kit)
HEMOSTATS- ATLEASTS 3 AND IT SHOULD BE THE CURVED ONES. THIS IS TO CUT THE PLACENTA AND
UMBILICAL CORDS( THIS IS TO CLAMP/CUT THE CORDS.THERE IS A CERTAIN WAY TO CUT IT I CAN TEACH YOU THIS TOO)( ALSO SOMETIMES THE MOTHER LIKES TO DO THIS . IT IS OK IF SHE DOES TO A CERTAIN POINT)
DENTAL FLOSS( NOT WAXED) - THIS IS TO TIE THE UMBILICAL CORDS.
ALCOHOL- LIKE TWO BOTTLES OF IT .
K Y JELLY & RUBBER GLOVES- THIS IS JUST IN CASE YOU NEED TO PUT YOU HAND IN TO PULL A PUP OUT . (YIKES) LOL
IODINE - TO PUT ON THE END OF THE CORDS.
QUICK STOP - TO STOP BLEEDING
ALOT OF TOWELS AND WASH CLOTHES .
HOT BOWL OF WATER
COTTON BALLS TO POOP AND PEE THE PUPS ( WHEN BORN THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS . YOU HAVE TO DO IT FOR THEM ) I CAN TEACH YOU THIS TOOO .
SMALL SEPARATE DOG BED FOR PUPS THE HAS A BOARDER THAN THEY CAN NOT GET OUT OF .
Ok its time its time for fendi to give birth > how do you know > what do u do ?
first things first get all your welping supplies. (all the i just listed) put the hemostats to boil so the are sterilized.after that put them in a bowl of alcohol dip them in after every use of them. get the welping box ready and lay fendi inside of it . have someone stay with her the whole time she can always squat like if she is going to peee. this is a good birth positions for her. her first contractions will be light and not so close together . if you lay her down you can see her belly contract . you should also wash you hands alot thru out this with any bacteria soap or have a bottle of hand sanitizer near . she will probably be in light labor for about to 3 to 4 hours . but if she is pushing really hard for that long you should take her to a vet to maybe get a c section . only if you see her having alot of trouble. when she is pushing the first thing you should see is a water sack . its black and should look like a bubble. the way to tell if it is a water sack or a puppy is to lightly press on it if it is soft it is a water sack if it is hard it is a pupppyyy !!!! when you see the puppy come out you can either let her push on her own for a little while but if she is taking a long time you should take a wet wash cloth and rub the puppies face and open the placenta so it can breath and it not drown . after it is out you can clean it yourself or have fendi clean it she will do it naturally . if you put the pup in front of her. you can also let the her chew some of the umbilical cord . but to be safe you can just clamp and cut it . you are going to need that thing they use to clean babies noses too so you can clean out the mouth throat and nose . i think it is called a mucus trap. then you clean the pup completely off after fendi does and put it to nurse . you can get different color strings to put on the pups to know which puppy is which. it is ok for fendi to eat after birth it has alot of nutrients she will need. theres alot more stuff but im soo tired of writing lol. if you want me to help you i can just let me know. oh you need to poop and pee the puppies as soon as the come out ....
there are some things you need to know about the things that can go wrong.the puppy can come out breeched . this is when the puppy comesout backwards and the head gets stuck in the inside of fendi . it can also be a dry birth. this is when the sack breaks in the inside and the puppy is not in the placenta. or the puppy comes out and it isn ot breathing this when you need to put your mouth over the mothand nose and suck the fluid out of its lungs. sometimes you need to put gloves on and cover them in k y jelly to put you hand yup inside the dog and literally pry the puppy out. theres a few other things that can go wrong but this is all i can think of right now .
also 2 to 3 days after they are born you need to take them to the vet to get declawed and tails cut.
if you have annnyyyyyy questions just ask im sure i left alot out . |
