A high pitched yelp works with very young pups. A firm 'No,' and replace with 'Good Toy' for a bit older pup. A gentle muzzle squeeze and a firm 'No' for 5 or 6 mo. old pup. A three finger tap to the side of the jaw and a firm NO for adults. NOTE this is a tap to the side, not a hit or slap ! Do not tap the nose area or under chin, this actually will make them bite down. |
