Lucy did not come home with a cone nor did I need a onesie.
She never offered to bother with her stitches - other than licking herself occasionaly as they healed.
As long as you are with her and watching her - I would remove the cone if she's not bothering them too much.
Also, I agree, that she might need some pain Meds. Call the vet if you think she does.
It will be ok; gotta get through this rough patch and it's awful when they don't feel good.
