I tip well when it comes to delivery people, waitstaff, hairdressers, valets, and that sort of service. But a tip jar at a KFC or the ice cream place? That is ridiculous. Starbucks bothers me too, but I have thrown a little loose change in their jar.
When I pick up carry out food at a restaurant, I often tip a dollar or two for the person who processed the order. I pay by bank card, which requires filling in the tip line and totaling the bill, so pressure also plays into it.
