The first time we ordered take out at The Gondolier close to our house, I was supprised to see a tip jar on the counter. I had called the order in and drove to pick it up myself. Besides dishing the food out and putting in cartons and bag, what did they do for a tip?
I hate the whole tipping system. We do tip when we eat out, get haircuts, etc but I really do not think a person should be expected to tip for someone doing what they were hired to do. If you work customer service, it is part of your JOB to be nice to customer and to make them as satisfied as possible.

We once order chinese food to be delivered. Not only did the guy park in our yard instead of the lane we lived on (dead end, no busy traffic at that time of night) but it took a good while to get our food. When dh gave him the money and a small tip, he asked if that was all he was tipping. Not sure if dh gave more or not.
