Here is what I think. The YTCA is the national club, the breeders who are members agree to abide by a code of ethics, and must be endorsed prior to admittance as a breeder member. Does that mean all are great, have healthy dogs (forever), have a certain personality you are looking for? Of course not. Sadly as a human species people will fool other people for awhile, will not breed to the best of this breed, willl despite ethics fail to support their puppy buyers. But all breeder members have passed a certain bar, which still means that you as a would be purchaser needs to do your homework.
References are a must; former buyers, and the breeders vet. Knowledge for you the purchaser a must. There are many health concerns such that one out of three Yorkies may have one of these health concerns. Sobering isn't it?
But still what no breeder can guarantee absolutely 100% is that this puppy will never ever get sick ever over the life of the dog.
What you want to do is to buy into a healthy line with a breeder who stands behind their breeding. To offer you lifetime support and advice; and btw even if 15yrs later they have stopped breeding.
