This is my opinion only, but if you have to be wasted to do it- then don't... wait until you can be sober to do it.
The time is right when it feels right sober... all your inhabitions go out the window when you are drinking, and you don't want to have any regrets about it.
For me when I drink, I do things I wouldn't do sober, and I would wake up with regret... this just could be me though.
If you worry about doing it, you won't be able to enjoy the present time together... let that worry go, when it happens it happens.
