I spoke to her husband last night, who said she had left earlier in the day to go handle some errands and things in the business office at the hospital.
Unfortunately I have nothing to update. I will update when I know something.
I did find out that The shelter is private owned. I have to been able to find out any information on it, other than the address. It's a private residence. I spoke to a humane society officer in Greenville, and he told me that he's never had a complaint of her 'stealing' a dog per se, but that he wouldn't swear that it doesn't happen. He also said her adoption fees are rather high, but she claims to be a no-kill shelter, so people in small communities talk and she gets animals by word of mouth. |
So then she could be a hoarder, or a fake rescue. Isn't there some kind of license you need to have if your residence is a "rescue"? I occasionally foster, and my county sent me a letter saying if I am fostering, and have more than 4 dogs, I have to have a kennel license (I forget how much but it was more than $100). If she's posing as a rescue, I'd see if she has such a license. Many fake rescues have obscenely high "rehoming" or "adoption" fees. In CA, which everything is expensive, adopting from a govt shelter is about $90 incl spay/neuter, and utd on all shots.
