If your pups are AKC registered, don't bother with any other registry. They were created by bad breeders into tricking unknowing buyers into believing their dogs have papers, when in reality the "papers" of those registries ACA, CKC (continental, not Canadian) APRI, etc aren't worth the paper it's printed on. Now if a dog was dual registered AKC and CanadianKC I still don't know what advantage that it would have. |
Actually the only benefit I know of is for showing your dog. As I show both in the USA and Canada my dogs are registered in both registries. AKC and CKC ie Canadian Kennel Club.
The microchip should I would think be readable by vets here in Canada and the USA.
The rules for breeders registered with the CKC are a bit different than in the USA, in that all breeders MUST if selling a purebred pup, register the dog, and can NOT charge more for this process. In fact when you pick up a pup here from a CKC breeder, you should be prepared at the time to sign the registration paperwork. Then the breeder sends this in to the CKC and you the new owner, will receive your pups official registration number and paperwork from the CKC.
I truly don't understand any reputable breeder of CH dogs not registering their litters, and NOT going ahead to register the pups with AKC.
