It does get better and you will be so happy you stuck with him. I have 4 right now and have had yorkies since 1970 and none of mine have had a high energy level after they grew out of the puppy stage. I agree that an ex pen would be a better option for when you are gone. Does he sleep in your room at night? If not maybe moving his crate or ex pen in there might help calm him a little. I can remember my first yorkie, Karma, the first night was a night mare. I said I wanted to take him back but my sister (we shared a room) said she would help take care of him and we got through the rough beginning. No mater how many times I bring a new one home I am a little nervous. I hope it works out for you.
