While I don't want to thrust our values on the rest of the world, some of this is shocking, even compared to what we do here. I can't believe that veterinarians are out in Baghdad poisoning dogs. The article stated the program started once 'funds were made available'. Like, how much does it cost to lay out poison and aren't there enough bullets there already? Somehow I feel that U.S. funds paid for this.
The China killings are carried out by gangs roaming the streets with batons bludgeoning the dogs to death. This, in a country that is wealthy enough to be our primary banker. WTH?? That's some messed up priorities.
In my lifetime I've had 4 dogs PTS. Three of them were at the vet's and one at the Humane Society. I sat there with every dog until the end and can tell you that the Humane Society was no different than the experience at the vet's office. Now, gassing dogs is a whole other matter and I think it should be outlawed here, no question about it. |
