CGC is really the best training you could do for the therapy dog test. If volunteering your time to cheer people up with a cute Yorkie interests you, ask your instructor if she knows who in your area provides certification.
There are two main organizations -- Therapy Dog International and the Delta Society. I'm not familiar with TDI, but the Delta Society website has a lot of good information.
