I have seen my vet do pups dew claws and tails and belive me the dew claw being removed is the least of the pain the pup will be experiencing by not having them done as a new born. (they did them with nail clippers) Done is just seconds. Now the tails are a totaly different thing altogether. Painful just watching!

Dew claws can be very painful if caught up in a collar or chain or an accident. Who knows... I have seen it first hand and it was not a good experience for me or the dog.
