I wasn't questioning it in the sense of why can they do it but we can't, I was merely saying it's odd to hear a manager say "you can't have a dog in here, because we sell food" but yet service dogs are still dogs. So in my thinking, if dogs can't come in because they might contaminate the food, whats to keep the service dog from doing the same thing? Does that even remotely make sense??? And the OP made it seem like the ms.VIP person was snotty and rude about her having the dog in the store-I don't think that's appropriate. Merely pull the shopper aside, explain the no dog policy and then both of you have a good day. Its really hard to not get snippy back at someone who has been rude to you (a general you)

You should pop over to surromomsonline or inferiltyworld and read some of the horror stories before you judge. It takes years and upwards of 100,000 to adopt. It can take years and hundreds of thousands of dollars for surrogacy. There's no guarantee you'll ever even get a child. Your surrogate might never get pregnant, or she gets pregnant and miscarries. Or she carries a baby to almost term and her placenta detaches and you have to bury your baby. Or you could have the child for 3 months only to have a biological mom change her mind. Do you have any idea what it's like to have to admit to yourself that your body is broke and you can't do the one thing you want most in this world-make a baby with your husband. I can tell you that I have seen the pain in women's faces when they have to come to that realization. I have carried babies for other couples, just so they can have a family of their own-they turned to surrogacy because adoption failed them. When you are at that low point in your life and you want nothing more than to hold a baby in your arms and can't, I can understand why they get pets. It's something to love them in return and fills a small part of the void and guilt they feel.
