My Dolce is just turning 9 months and still has her puppy coat, but I did notice down by her legs where the color changes from tan to black, the color is starting to break and the new coat coming in is her adult coat, silky. I think it just depends on the dog. I have a feeling that Dolce will take a lot longer cuz her hair grows pretty slow.
