I agree that sometimes we are quick to judge. My first thought on reading this post was the same, how terrible & heartless to give up 2 family members after 16 years of unconditional love. The above post reminded me that it's easy to SAY or THINK what you would do until faced with a certain situation. I have never had to give up a pet, but I have seen the pain of others that had to do so. My son is the loving owner of 10 yr old Chester, who was owned by my co-worker. She raised Chester from a pup, and never would have dreamed of living without him until 4years ago when she was fired & had to move in with family members. Her family was willing to take my friend, but not Chester. It broke her heart to say goodbye to him, and I would have hated to be in her shoes!
