I tried the xpen I put his cage, food and a training pad in it and Secret hated it! All he did was cry. So I moved him into my bathroom (half bath) put all the same things and he loves it. He's only in the bathroom when we're working. He's house trained but I'm still not ready to let him stay out all day by him self. When he's in the bathroom he'll use the pad but when he's around the house while we're home he won't use the pad I leave out for him he'll just hold it. So I kinda don't trust him just yet :s I say don't waste your on the puppy apartment (lol)and do what ever will save you the most money! Good Luck
